Trey's 2nd Vocational Day and Evening Party

My second vocational day was spent with the Quebec Airport's fire department. They staff 3 crash trucks and utility truck used for EMS. In addition, they have a command post bus that was converted from a RV with a lot of firefighter ingenuity. They just moved into their new station last year, as the old station was torn down to make room for an expansion of the terminal. The department is also going to be buying 2 new Oshkosh crash trucks this year, which one of them will be equipped with a piercing nozzle. The crew I worked with today was great, they were very knowledgable and answered all of my questions. I was Yoland's, or Yoyo, shadow for the day. He is third from the left in the picture above.  Of course, we exchanged patches and they even gave me one of their hats- which was extremely comfortable.

We took a tour of the airport, which has 2 runways. I saw their training grounds, which consisted of 2 planes. Yoyo was able to explain all the inner workings of the department. He also allowed me to play a bit, letting me control the turret from the cockpit of the crash truck. Lastly, I was allowed to watch some light training the crew performed. All in all, a great day with a great crew!

After my vocational day, I rejoined the team for an evening party at Marc and Nadine. We had a wonderful time talking and getting to know the members of Rotary Club Levis. Also, on our way to the party, we ran into 2 Rotarians from Cleveland, OH and our driver, Gerard, invited them to go to the party. We had wonderful appetizers prepared by another Marc, they were delicious! Lastly, I was able to watch some of the Caps game, as well as the Canadiens play. Once again, a nice evening in the books and new friends were made.
