The GSE team met up at Club de Quebec Est (East) as 1230 for lunch. Due to time constraints, we did not present to the club, but we were able to attend the meeting and eat lunch with the club. We all sat at different tables and had the opportunity to talk with members of the club. We got to witness 2 new members of Rotary become initiated during the meeting.
After the club meeting, we went to Citi Joue, which is a camp for handicapped people. The Quebec East club does a lot of fundraising for the camp. Denis and Chantel gave us a tour of the facility. The camp has 3 main buildings, has a capacity of 150 campers and hires 100 staff during peak hours in the summer. The campers can stay either 6 or 12 days, depending on the camp. On site, the camp has a swimming pool, a small lake for swimming and fishing, a playground, and even a barn complete with livestock. All in all, a very good experience for us to see this camp, we all just wished it were active for our visit to see how the staff manages the camp.
After the tour, the chef at Citi Joue prepared a wonderful meal consisting of venison, mashed cauliflower, and green beans along with pumpkin soup for an appetizer and a nice dessert to finish off the meal with great company from some members of Quebec East Club and some of the staff here.
